A SENSATIONAL OPENING NIGHT

1 CD - E.P. Collector
August 4, 1972, opening show
Las Vegas Hilton Hotel
Audience recording

This CD is titled "A Sensational Opening Night" (label E. P. Collector, catalogue number EPC 2017-13)
Recorded live from the audience in Las Vegas, NV, August 4th, 1972, Opening show, this CD is subtitled "From Japan With Love Vol. 4" because it was recorded by a member of a Japanese fan club.
The Las Vegas, August 4th, 1972 Opening Night was first released in 2003 on the CDs „No Fooling Around“ and „Another Opening Night“. Those CDs were taken from a different, incomplete source tape. Our new recording is great sounding and, for the first time, 100% complete.
Elvis started his 7th season in Las Vegas with a fairly dynamic opening night. It was reported that Elvis was suffering from a headache, and he kept the opening show short with minimal in-between songs talk. He did not perform his usual showstopper „Suspicious Minds“, but he was on stage for 50 minutes, singing his heart out with a passion and energy not seen since August 1970. Compared to the previous Vegas season and the following tour in April, Elvis was in great physical shape, tanned, slim and full of energy. He was in a much better mental shape too, because his new girlfriend, model Linda Thompson accompanied him for the whole first week of this engagement. This concert is a good example of Elvis at his best, mixing rock’n’roll with ballads and blues, singing old and new songs, and looking great.
This concert is taken from a recently found first generation copy of original audience recorded cassette tape. You may ask your supplier for samples.
This CD is packaged in a nicely designed digipak with great collection of quality images taken in August 1972, including REAL Aug. 4th, Opening night photos!
If you have enjoyed our other August 1972 releases such as "Rock & Soul… And Some Mighty Fine Rock’n’Roll" and "Everybody Let’s Rock", then you are sure to enjoy our latest release. As with all our releases, this CD is a labour of love and we hope you enjoy it. We are planning another CD taken from those "Japanese" tapes. So stay tuned!

A SONG FOR SHEILA

1 CD - E.P. Collector
August 29, 1974, Dinner Show
Las Vegas Hilton Hotel
audience recording
This CD is titled "A Song For Sheila" (label E. P. Collector, catalogue number EPC 2017-14)
Elvis Presley opened his 11th Las Vegas season on August 19th, and he performed a total of 27 shows, closing on September 2nd. Once again, Elvis revisited his live repertoire based on previous seasons and he included several tracks from the December ’73 recording sessions, and he also added songs like "Softly As I Leave You” and „If You Love Me (Let Me Know)“. Elvis' new love, the beautiful Sheila Ryan was present and Elvis sang the rarely performed „Early Morning Rain“ for her. He sings the complete song.
The Las Vegas, August 29th, 1974 Dinner show is previously unreleased except for 7 songs released from a soundboard source by the FTD label („It’s Midnight“ CD). This concert is taken from an early generation copy of an original audience recorded cassette tape. As usual, you may ask your supplier for samples.
This CD is packaged in a nicely designed digipak with a great collection of quality images taken in August 1974.
As with all our releases, this CD is a labour of love and hope you enjoy it.

ELVIS '77 THE FINAL CURTAIN DVD COLLECTION

Out now is a 7 DVD box with the title Elvis '77 The Final Curtain DVD collection, with (as you can suspect by the title) the Elvis In Concert footage.
This box is the 3rd DVD box release with the "In Concert" shows.

The first release was the famous Boxcar release in 2011 with the beautiful 400 page booklet which holds 6 DVD's and 6 CD's. Nowadays people ask for this boxset more than US$ 600,00.

Then the Rock And Roll Kingdom label re-released the material as a 14 CD and 7 DVD's set.

Now, the third (re-re-)release is this one: Elvis '77 The Final Curtain DVD collection. Yes, you just read it right, only the DVD collection. It sells for approx. € 130,00 on ebay. So this time no live CD;s [we've heard it all before and they were copies of other bootleg CD's anyway] but "only" 7 DVD's.

What do we get in this set. The same content that was on the previous boxcar release:

DVD 1: 8 mm footage from the May 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, ,28 & 29 concerts in various cities & 8mm footage from the June 1 show.

DVD 2: 8mm footage from the June 18, 24, 25 & 26 shows. Bonus clips are from the february 20, May 1 & 2 shows in Charlotte and Chicago.

DVD 3: The (almost) complete show from June 19, 1977 concert in Omaha, Nebraska.

DVD 4: The (almost) complete show from June 21, 1977 concert in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Both concerts were filmed for the "Elvis In Concert June 1977" CBS TV Special.

DVD 5: Elvis In Concert, the CBS TV special.

DVD 6: "Elvis Is Dead", a collection of news reports from local and major TV stations on the passing of Elvis Presley, recorded in august 1977.

DVD 7: Elvis In Concert the alternate TV Special.

So what we have here is basically a bootleg DVD boxset from the Boxcar release and the Star release (alternate CBS TV Special) in extremely good picture quality, especially the Rapid City & Omaha concerts are very good and the TV special footage is the best we can get.

This set doesn't come with a booklet unfortuantely, but the people who made this set used very beautiful pictures all throughout the box.

So, if you missed the original box (the very expensive one) you can try getting this one. The quality is the same.

Happy hunting.

SPLICED TAKES - STILL IN MEMPHIS

Fans know what to expect with this series, some highlights are mentioned here, but in fact the whole cd is one big highlight!
WAY DOWN - Starts of with the band fooling around, Elvis joins the fun and it runs straight into the song!
WEARIN' THAT LOVED ON LOOK - Over six (!!) splices make a very different version, with extra verses and piano solo.
I'M MOVIN' ON - This splice includes ALL verses done by Elvis , and runs longer then other versions.
Same goes for HEY JUDE, which also sound very fresh.
SHE THINKS I STILL CARE - One of THE highlights probably, Here Elvis start of with the slower version, James takes over and off they go into the faster version,
this works very good, and maybe should have been released like this!
GOOD TIME CHARLIE'S LOST HIS MIND - The title was renamed for fun, and that's what we are getting here, a nice complete take with lots
of fooling around.
SUSPICIOUS MINDS - What's a "Memphis" release without this classic, because some rare parts are used, this one again sound
very different to previous releases outtakes.
DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM - Just listen to the "harmony" ending, very nice to hear two different sounding Elvis voices.
