CLOSING NIGHT, SEPTEMBER 7 1970

Paradise Road Records presents CLOSING NIGHT.

This album contains the September 7, 1970 Las Vegas closing show with lots of fun and some nice rarities, including many false starts, the medley 'Blue Suede Shoes / Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On / Blue Suede Shoes' and Bob Dylan impersonations! These are great and rare audience recordings! PLUS some backstage recordings from August 10, 1970 (recorded and partly used for the movie 'That's The Way It Is').

in Las Vegas, September 4, 1970 midnight show.
Track 27-30: recorded backstage, August 10, 1970.

This concert was previously released in 2019 by Straight Arrow as "Like A Greek God". The sound on that CD is horrible, so probably nothing has changed soundwise.

- I listened to this CD and NOTHING changed with the sound. It sounds exactly the same as Like A Greek God by Straight Arrow. Maybe this is a 1:1 copy?

COLLECTED WORKS PART 1 FEBRUARY 1970 PART 1- 3 CD boxset

Elvis’ first live LP “Elvis In Person” which was released as a double LP together with the “Back In Memphis” album reached the gold status in less than two months after its release. No wonder RCA decided to record another live album early 1970. This resulted in the “Elvis On Stage” LP featuring live performances from February 1970 at the International Hotel in Las Vegas. Also included were two left over recordings which were actually recorded for the “Elvis In Person” LP but they remained unused.

The whole project as produced by Felton Jarvis contained slight overdubs and applause. The recordings presented here are mostly undubbed or they are presented in unique mixes. Most of the tracks are sourced from near mint acetates containing those unique mixes.

The original “Elvis On Stage” LP only reached the gold status eight months after its release. A reason may be that the album did not contain the usual golden oldies which you would expect on a live album. The album showed Elvis has grown beyond his hits and became an all-round entertainer. Also presented in this box set are two complete live midnight performances recorded right after the RCA crew left the building.

Just as all recordings on this set also these vibrant audience recordings are digitally remastered for optimum listening pleasure.

ELVIS 26 - ESSENTIAL SIXTIES SPLICES VOLUME 2

After the first release in this series (25) CMT is proud to present the second volume , again some  incredible  brandnew, unreleased spliced takes are on this release and focusses on 1961; Elvis was 26 when he recorded all these great tracks.

As always, expect some nice suprises, since a lot of the tracks sound very different then what has been released before.

It kicks of with an AMAZING new version of "His Latest Flame" , in the studio they tried out different tempo's, these are combined here and the opening starts of slow and turns into a great new version!

Another highlight is the new "harmony" version of "I'm Yours", where the album version is harmony all the way, this version only has parts, it sounds fresh and to our humble opinion better then the versions released so far. "Follow That Dream" has a longer ending, using all takes available to get a different sound.

Also included is a spliced take of "Can't Help Falling in Love" , which uses officialy unreleased takes.

We could go on and on, since every track on this album is something you have never heard.

While previously released on ''An Unforgettable Night In Baltimore'' we have managed to find a much better sounding tape from a completely new source!

The november tour hasn't properly been represented before outside of a soundboard and a couple of not so good audience recordings, a shame because after a tired but succesful vegas season Elvis reinvigorated himself and performed what could be considered his best tour of the 70's, decked in some newly made jumpsuits and shows usually lasting over and hour combined with the newly joined J.D. Sumner & The Stamps Quartet replacing the imperials good times never seemed so good, so it's great when a good sounding tape like this shows up

after nearly 50 years proving what an electrifying performer Elvis really was.

Featuring fantastic performances of ''It's Now Or Never'' ''Are You Lonesome Tonight'' ''How Great Thou Art'' ''Bridge Over Troubled Water'' ''Help Me Make It Through "The Night'' ''The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face'' and many more, presented in a digipack filled with photos this release will be sure to please your eyes and ears.

We have more releases in store featuring some brand new shows!

So keep your eyes and ears ready.

A LEGENDARY PERFORMER VOL. 9

After a long break (believe it or not, our last release dated back to 2009), the Madison label is back with a number of new releases to delight you.

One of our favorite projects was the Legendary Performer volumes, and we are continuing with this series with many new volumes in the pipeline.  Our plan is to include many unreleased tracks - which is very rare nowadays, as most releases offer nothing new.

Our first release is A Legendary Performer Volume 9 and is dedicated to “The Crazy Canuck”.  In this volume we have included a number of unreleased tracks and it comes - as you have come to expect from the Madison label - with a beautiful 16 page booklet.

In this new volume we have included 23 tracks that will offer something for everybody. For example,
‘(Let’s Have A) Party’ has never sounded better (it has been taken from a different source master).  We have also included an unreleased alternate take of ‘I’ve Got Confidence’ from 1971, and ‘Stay Away’ (Take 13) appears for the first time in pristine stereo, not the fake stereo that is now popular these days.  The same goes for the x-rated version of ‘Only The Strong Survive’, which appears in true stereo for the first time. Also, we have included the previously unreleased take 10 of ‘Padre’.  Meanwhile, ‘Stranger In My Own Hometown’ is the unedited, overdubbed, master which comes in great sound and runs for a full 5 minutes, while ‘Promised Land’ (Take 1) is taken from a different mix and sounds so much better – along with many others (see below).

Track listing:

01. Maybellene [Reworked version August 20, 1955]
02. Don't Be Cruel [Live, September 9, 1956]
03. (Let's Have A) Party  [a better-quality source master] *
04. Got A Lot O Livin' To Do!  [Movie version - composite - from an acetate] *
05. Ain't That Loving You Baby [Fast version - spliced takes 7,8 & 1]
06. Fountain Of Love [Takes 8, 6]
07. The Bullfighter Was A Lady [Takes 2 & 3, Spliced]
08. Please, Don't Drag That String Around [Takes 3, 5]
09. Memphis, Tennessee [1963 - Rejected Master]
10. Easy Come, Easy Go [Take 9]
11. Stay Away [Take 13 in Stereo]*
12. Only The Strong Survive [Take 6 – ‘Dear Georgie’ - X-Rated)*
13. Stranger In My Own Hometown  - [Unedited, overdubbed master] *
14. I've Got Confidence [Take 3, From Acetate] *
15. Padre [Take 10] *
16. It's Over [April 10, 1972 Multi-Track from Acetate] *
17. I Got A Feelin' In My Body [Unreleased studio rehearsal with take 1]  *
18. Promised Land [Take 1 - X-rated version – Better Mix] *

YOU KNOW, MY BASS MAN IS BOUNT TO DIE

Ampex is proud to present You Know, My Bass Man Is Bound To Die

After taking a break, we invested in getting you a brand-new concert, recorded on March 24th, 1975, during the dinner show.  This show has never been released and comes in a great ambience sound quality. Elvis is very loose and has a ball with his audience and band members.  Opening in Las Vegas on March 18th, Elvis presented a rejuvenated show to his audience. Some of his classics like ‘Teddy Bear’ / ‘Don't Be Cruel’, ‘Love Me’, ‘Hound Dog’ and ‘I Got A Woman’ / ‘Amen’ would remain, but his show consisted mostly of recently recorded material, some of it only a week old!

Elvis performed ‘Green Green Grass Of Home’, ‘Fairytale’ and ‘And I Love You So’ from his still to be released album Today. ‘Promised Land’ would be sung on a regular basis whereas it was only performed a couple of times the year before. It would also find itself a different arrangement being closer to the studio master with James Burton’s electric guitar front and center. ‘My Boy’, which was first introduced in the August-September 1973 season before disappearing from the setlist, would make a comeback during this season but was now performed much more confidently with Elvis taking risks on the high notes near the end.  Be sure to listen to the version included on this CD, as Elvis takes it up a notch more than usual!  All in all, Elvis was back on track for the time being, reinvigorated, and giving professional and joyful shows night after night.

The March 24th dinner show is well worth having in your collection, with Elvis joking with his fellow band members - most notably J.D. Sumner - as Elvis jokes, ‘I've been with JD Sumner since I was 16 years old. He's the world's oldest bass singer; no, I’m kidding, he's the world lowest bass singer!’ Also, during ‘Trilogy’, Elvis still can't seem to contain himself as he jokingly sings, ‘You know, my bass man is bound to die!’

‘Burning Love’ and ‘I'll Remember You’ - which were re-introduced during this season after a two-year hiatus - were left off during this show with Elvis opting to do ‘Green Green Grass Of Home’ instead, a song which wasn't sung too often during the season and would soon disappear from his setlist.

We've included the March 19th dinner show pre acts on disc 1, to give you a full overview of the Elvis Presley show as recorded from the soundboard.

Be sure to pick-up this digipack, filled with newly acquired photos, newspaper reviews and a list of songs performed during this season.
