NIGHT OF THE DRAGON

Wednesday, August 28th 1974 Dinner & Midnight shows, Las Vegas Hilton, Las Vegas, NV.

Label:  Straight Arrow Special Products SA/SP 2020-63-02

Straight Arrow is pleased to bring you a new double CD dedicated to Elvis' Summer Las Vegas '74 season, which was always rated as controversial due to Elvis in-between-songs comments in several shows. Nevertheless, musically, all shows were very good. Straight Arrow has released only 2 shows so far: "Karate Fever" CD (August 31st, 1974 D/S in 2010) and "Stormy Weather Ahead" 2CD (September 2nd, 1974 D/S in 2017).

August 28th recordings are coming directly from the recently discovered new sources; the first generation copies of the original audience-recorded mastertapes, never before in circulation! These fascinating, previously unreleased concerts were never before available in such an excellent sound quality!

Both play lists included several songs unique to this season: "It's Midnight", "Big Boss Man" and funky "If You Talk in Your Sleep," the latter with a karate demo midway. His song selection demonstrated his expertise in a great variety of musical genres: the sexy styling of "Fever," the poignancy of "I'm Leavin'," and the feel-good of two Olivia Newton John songs "If You Love Me (Let Me Know)" and "Let Me Be There." Most of all, perhaps, Elvis touched first base musically with the stirring performances of "How Great Thou Art." Worth to mention is the rare inclusion of "My Boy" which was presented only once in 1974 (by request).

As usual, this release is presented in a deluxe 4-panel double digipack with a collection of images taken on stage during Elvis' Summer Las Vegas '74 season.

OL’ SWIVEL HIPS STILL WOVS’ EM APRIL – MAY 1977

This deluxe box set is focused on the third tour of 1977. Elvis’ live performances in 1977 are often criticized and not without a reason. But Elvis was still offering his fans an enjoying time, the magic of seeing Elvis in person probably exceeded the fact he often delivered a standard and sometimes even mediocre performance. The reactions of the spectators are very telling.
They scream, shout and get wild for their hero. While listening to the recordings of these shows you cannot draw any other conclusion than that the shows were below par. But the charisma of Elvis was enormous, which probably made this unnoticed by most of the fans present. This set mostly contains soundboard & multitrack recordings but also contains two rare audience recordingsThese high quality audience recordings of the April 27 & 30 performances deserve a place in this box set. Both being first class audience recordings and remastered from scratch to achieve an optimal listening experience.
This 6 cd set includes a wonderful booklet with many rare and unpublished photo’s.

ROUSTABOUT AT THE FAIR - spliced takes

Another nice "spliced" album with lots of surprises, this time the producers choose to use both ROUSTABOUT and IT HAPPENED AT THE WORLD'S FAIR.

Combined you get a new fresh album which sounds like it's brand new mainly due to the clever edits which also brings extended and very different sounding versions of master tracks.

Just listen to the incredible version of "Roustabout" with a running time of 5.01 minutes, including 8 different takes to make a very nice new track.

"It's A Wonderful World" has a longer intro and sounds very different due to the different mix, and also "Big Love Big Heartache' sounds very different although there was only one take to work with.

Fans of the series will know what to expect and will again not be disappointed by this nice release.

The artwork also "combines"  the two movies in a clever way.

TO GOOD TO BE CRUE - Live Chronicles volume 3

After his '69 comeback on stage Elvis wanted more. In 1970 there were two more seasons in Vegas, both were partly recorded for a live release. (On Stage and That's The Way It Is) Lots and lots of songs were tried out, some stayed in the show, some were only song once. The title of this new CMT album lives up to their name, since it has an amazing collection of live songs, presented on 2 discs, one for the February Season, and one for the August Season. Like the previous releases in this series, the edits make it sound like it is one great live show... which would be... "To Good To Be True"

FEELIN' FAST VIBRATIONS

The new label Cocky Rooster Company presents their first release. Everyone knows where this is coming from, but we thought this should be represented in a good way. We don't know the person who worked on it like crazy, but he deserves a big hand for it. Listen to the fantastic sounding matrix recording from the midnight show on August 21, 1974 on a shiny silver pressed CD for your collection.

On this 3 disc release you'll find the following concerts:

  • Sunday, September 2, 1973 midnight show

Label: Straight Arrow Special
Products SA/SP 2020-62-02

Between 2007 and 2016 Straight Arrow has released 20 of the so called sound booth recorded concerts. Starting with "Kicking and Rolling" in 2007, "Faded Love" and "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" in 2010, we decided to create a miniseries called "From the booth tapes." From 2013 to 2016 we have released 9 volumes, and now the right time has arrived to introduce the volume 10.

The August 20th,1973 Midnight show sound booth recording was first released by the
legendary "Fort Baxter" label on "A Profile - The King On Stage Vol. 1" box set in 1995, since
then it has been re-released several times but never from the original source and totally
complete - until now! The pitch was incorrect on all previous individual releases of this show.
The August 31st, Dinner & September 2nd 1973, Midnight shows were released (by our own
sub-label called "Vegas Strip") in 2008 on "Getting Down The Business" & "High Spirit In
Vegas" CDs. The sound of these CDs was speed-corrected by one of our colleagues back
then, but unfortunately, the pitch was still not right. For our final release all 3 shows came directly from the RCA tape duplications chromdioxide compact cassettes. You can see the reproductions of individual cassettes on the CD artwork.

Please note that the August 31st, Dinner show was mislabeled on the cassette as the August 30th Dinner show. All 3 shows were meticulously pitch-corrected by a professional musician.
We were able to edit the missing parts of August 31st Dinner and September 2nd Midnight
shows, using another source recorded by our dear friend from the UK. These tapes were never in circulation and they are of an excellent quality.

We have repaired the incomplete "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and "How Great
Thou Art" from the August 31st, 1973 Dinner show to make it complete.
As usual, this release is presented in a deluxe triple digipack with a collection of images taken
on and off the stage during Elvis' 1973 Las Vegas Summer season.
